John Mitchell is an accomplished workplace relations (WR) and human resources (HR) professional with more than 20 years’ experience in private and public sector organisations.

John gained valuable WR experience with two employer associations before moving to internal HR to broaden his experience.

He was the HR and Industrial Relations (IR) Manager on the senior management team of a national publicly listed industrial services business for more than nine years.

He also spent several years working for consultancy firms to support businesses of all sizes to develop and implement practical and compliant HR and IR practices and procedures.

John enjoys working with businesses to manage people-related concerns and takes the approach that often there is no such thing as a problem, just a well-hidden solution.

He takes a strategic and practical approach when working with members. His key strength areas include:

• enterprise bargaining negotiations,
• representation in various industrial tribunals,
• strategic implementation of HR procedures,
• contract and policy development and review and
• creating and delivering workplace training.

John has bachelor’s degrees in law and business (HRM).
